Costs
How much does a new bathroom cost in Bridgnorth?
Most full bathroom installations in Bridgnorth fall between £4,500 and £9,500 including suite, tiling and labour. Wet rooms and larger spaces with bespoke tiling can run higher. The biggest cost variables are suite choice, tile choice and the age of the property — older homes sometimes need additional pipework or plaster repair.
Why are some quotes so much cheaper than others?
Three reasons usually: cheaper suites and tiles (often not labelled in the quote), skipped steps (no proper waterproofing under tiling, no electrical certification), or no allowance for what's behind the walls. Cheap quotes have a habit of turning into expensive jobs once the work starts. Ask for an itemised quote and compare like for like.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Site visits and written quotes are free and there is no obligation to use us afterwards.
Timeline
How long does a bathroom installation take?
A typical full bathroom installation takes 7 to 14 working days. Smaller refurbishments can be done in 3 to 5 days. Wet rooms typically take 10 to 14 days because of the tanking and drainage work. Period properties sometimes need an extra few days.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We typically book 4 to 8 weeks ahead, sometimes longer during summer. The earlier you book, the more flexibility we have with start dates. If you have a firm deadline (selling the house, family visiting, accessibility need) tell us upfront so we can plan around it.
Can I use my bathroom during the work?
During a full installation, no — the room is stripped, the water is off and there are tradespeople in and out. We always ask whether you have another bathroom in the house or, for single-bathroom homes, recommend planning the work around alternative arrangements (family, friends, short let). We can sometimes phase the work to keep a toilet usable for longer.
Planning & process
Do I need planning permission for a new bathroom?
Generally no, not in a typical home. Building Regulations apply (Part G for sanitation, Part P for electrics) and we handle that for you. Listed buildings and conservation areas — common around parts of Bridgnorth — can need consent for external changes (new soil stack, external vent, etc.). We'll flag anything that might apply when we visit.
Can you move the toilet/bath/shower?
In most cases, yes. The constraints are the location of the soil stack (the main waste pipe) and the floor structure. The further you move a WC from the soil stack, the more pipework gradient you need — there are limits. We work this out at the site visit.
Will you sort planning, building control and certificates?
We handle building control notifications and provide compliance certificates for electrical and gas work on completion. If planning is needed (rare for internal bathroom work) we tell you upfront and can recommend a local architect or planning consultant.
Choosing products
Do you supply the bathroom suite or do I?
Either works. Many customers come to us with a suite already chosen — that's fine and we'll inspect what you've bought before we order anything else around it. If you prefer, we source the suite and brassware ourselves, often at better-than-retail prices because of trade accounts.
Which brands do you recommend?
It depends on budget and use. For everyday brassware, Bristan and Hansgrohe represent good value. For premium taps and showers, Crosswater or Hansgrohe iBox-based systems. For suites, Roca, Villeroy & Boch, and Burlington (for period properties) are reliable. We don't take incentives from any manufacturer.
What about cheap online suites?
Mixed picture. Some online-only brands are decent value. Many cut corners on internals (fragile cisterns, thin acrylic baths, plastic-bodied taps that fail after two years). If you've seen something cheap, send us the link before you buy — we'll give you an honest opinion.
